Technical Specifications

TUTV has specific requirements for approved content deliverables. In the future we hope to make submissions to TUTV a single digital deliverable, however, in the mean time please submit your video on Mini DV Tape or DVD for TV broadcast and a self contained QuickTime Movie for Web.

The technical specifications below are intended to optimize the final product that will be aired on television and the web.

PRINCIPLE PHOTOGRAPHY

There are many great cameras available on the market today, but when shooting footage you plan to submit to TUTV please follow these guidelines:

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 HD (High Definition)*
4:3 SD (Standard Definition)
Resolution: 1920×1080 HD
1440×1080 HDV
720×480 SD
Frame Rates: 24 fps (Film)
29.97 fps (Default)
60 fps (Television)
Video Bit Rate: 5000 kbps HD
2000 kbps SD
Audio Sample Rate: 48.0 kHz

* Please note that if your content is shot at a 16:9 aspect ratio it will need to be down converted for TV broadcast to maintain it’s aspect ratio before dubbing to a Mini DV Tape or authoring to a DVD. Otherwise your video will be subject to the display settings of the end viewer’s television. You will not have to down convert your HD content for Web.
